Well, I finally caved and bought something that wasn't a Fender. Presenting: Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cut Private Reserve! The colour is "Gloss Yellow" - and it's funny how it looks brighter in photos. In person, it looks almost exactly like TV Yellow - almost like a Dijon mustard yellow.

Given that I'm a Fender man - and at that, mostly Telecasters - the flat slab top body of the Jr appealed to me. Actually, it really is the simplicity of this guitar that appeals to me as well.

very very COOL! always loved these... i have a Pete Townshend SG with that warp around style bridge on it and i'm finding the strings slip up and down on the intonation ribs ontop of the bridge... most people are telling me to file some small minor string slots, just enough to stop them from moving so much... let me know if you have the same issue...

Only issue I've noticed so far is tuning instability. I'm hoping a new set of strings cures it.

This tuning comment concerns me...but let's stretch those strings a bit and see what happens.

ya the same with my Townshend SG... strings keep going sharp... first i thought it was the nut... but then i noticed the strings roll up or down on the bridge quite easy... hit a chord hard or bend a string and the string moves and sticks sharp on the intonation ribs on the bridge... not much downward string pressure on this bridge design

so far the only way to cure some of that is everyone says i should file some small string slots on the ribs.. not deep or anything... just enough to stop them moving so easy
