        Almost looks like it has some spalting in it as well. That could be a very cool top! I say go for it!

        It'll have to be debarked and kiln dried to be usable for a guitar. Someone with a good size band saw should be able to cut it to size for you though.

          That's after the wood has been dried, and cut to whterver size the billet ends up being.
          I have Alder billets out in the shop that are 20X10X2.25 for bodys and a AAAA maple billet that is 24X7.75X2.25 for bookmatching tops.

                I finally made it over to my neighbors back yard last night and unfortunately the log is only 16 inches long...to make workable guitar top billets it needed to be at least 24 inches long.



                Oh well, it was worth a try.
                I'm just a few hundred lessons away from being a great guitar player.......
