  • Best Wah for Heavy Distortion Playing

This is for me to see everyones opinions on what wah is the best at cutting through distorion. vote for the wah you think is best before distortion and the one you can really tell is a wah with distortion and not like a subtle tone control.

I have a standard dunlop GCB crybaby, modded with true bypass and a red fasel. Best heavy distortion wah that I've ever used. Also the only wah I've ever used, aside from GCB stock.

i have a really modded hendrix signature wah. almost same spec as the standard except for the sweep cap. not happy with it for high gain. ive been running it ds-1>wah>mt-2>amp and i like it but i dont wanna have to run a distortion before it to get it to really cut through.

I once owned the Dime Wah. Threw it in front of a Triple Rec with a DS-1 in front and it sounded beastly. Handled it all very well. Then the roof caught fire when I kicked in the boost on the wah. Goddamn!

You'll have good results with quite a few, but here's the two industry standards for what you're looking for.

              Expensive Teese Wizard.

              Less expensive Dunlop Dime Wah.

I don't consider the Teese Wizard very expensive, but I do think it's about the best you're going to find because it was DESIGNED to handle humbuckers and a lot of gain. I actually use one for my blues and rock stuff and have never been disappointed in it.

I have 1 of their yellow fasel Medicine Bawl wahs and it's my favourite wah ever.

The Morley Bad Horsies also cut through gain very well too.

If you're using HEAVY distortion, the CAE MXR MC404 in red mode really, really has a super vocal sweep.

I've had the Wizard wah, crybaby classic, and tons of others.
