I would definitely try one before spending any money on a system. They can get expensive by the time you are done, and you may not even like it that much. It isn't for everyone, and certainly doesn't sound like an acoustic guitar, if that is what you are after.
OTOH, if you do try it and like it, an Ultra might be a great way to go. It's already integrated into the guitar from the get go that way, and is possibly cheaper than putting one in yourself (and certainly easier).
