I popped into my local mom and pop store and tried out an Ampeg J12-T combo, a Crate Blue Voodoo BV120 head, Fender Prosonic head and an old DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp pedal.
Ampeg-Power Amp Tubes: 2 x EL84
Preamp Tubes: 2 x 12AX7
RMS Power Output: 15 Watts Class A
Speakers: 12" Ampeg Vintage

Cool little amp! Well, can't really say little(30#) but small enough to pack around. It would be really nice for practice/bedroom amp duties. Good cleans up to 5 on the volume then it starts to break up to a nice bluesy growl. Tremolo has a nice range and the Reverb is just ok IMHO. I think that this would really sing with a speaker and tube upgrade. It was going for $300 which I though was pretty reasonable.
Crate BV120-120 watts RMS
Gain: Channel 1 66dB, tones at "10" @ 1kHz
Channel 2 101dB, tones @ "10" @ 1kHz
Tone Control Range: Channel 1 Low 16dB @ 100Hz; Mid 20dB @ 300Hz; High 10dB @ 10kHz Channel 2 Low 15dB @ 100Hz; Mid 13dB @ 500Hz; High 10dB @ 10kHz; Presence 5dB @ 10kHz
Tube Types: Preamp 12AX7A (3); Power Amp BV-120H 12AX7A (1), 6L6GT/5881 (4)
Cool looking head, good high gain, so-so clean. Reverb stinks! And obviously LOUD, played it through the matching crate 4x12 cab. Tone wise it really didn't do anything for me.
Fender Pro Sonic Head- SS Rect/AB: 60 Watts
Tube Rect/AB: 50 Watts
Tube Rect/A: 30 Watts

This baby was Seafoam Lizard Green and it sceamed! Hi gain galor, not your typical Fender cleans, but acceptable.
DOD- Don't know how old this pedal was, but it looked like it was from the early to mid 80s, pretty rugged construction. Two controls, Gain and Level...pretty user friendly! This one was quiet and I got really good blues to classic rock gain. It sounded great playing my Tele into the little Ampeg combo.
