  • Neck shims?

Hey guys, has anyone had to shim the neck of a bolt-on guitar before? No matter what I do, I can't get my Wolfgang set up properly. The action is too low at the nut, and too high close to the neck pickup. I think I'm going to have to shim both the locking nut and the neck. What can I use to shim the neck, without ruining the nice solid coupling between neck and body? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use cardboard shims. A matchbook cover or something like that thickness
will work. As far as the nice tight pocket ?? I guess that's the trade off
for better action? But I've never heard a major lose in sustain from just
    one shim
