Floyd Rose ?

Hello all,
I have a lame question. I have been playing for 18 years, and Im new to the floyd style bridge. A tec buddy was suggesting putting in a wood block? I shook my head like I new what he was talking about. What was he talking about

I believe he is referring to placing a wooden block against the metal trem block under the guitar to stop it from moving. You are essentially "blocking" the trem from moving, which makes it more like a hardtail. If you are interested in using the Floyd you wouldn't want to block the trem. If you are looking for more tuning stability, blocking the trem allows you to use the guitar like a hardtail.
