Well, I wouldn't use the word "need." But IMO, if you like Strats for being Strats, and you like Teles for being Teles, you should have one of each, not try to satisfy both tastes with a combo axe. They are different animals, and getting one guitar to cover both bases ends up in a compromise on both ends. Sure, you may end up with an awesome hybrid guitar in it's own right, and that may actually be the best tool for you. But if you really want a classic Strat or a classic Tele, the combo axe won't be either of them, and you'll still have G.A.S. in the end.
So, I'd go with whichever one you feels fits the bill the most at this time. Then pick up the other later, if you still feel that you want it by then. Since you want a vibrato, I'd go for a Strat first.
