  • Gibson has made my day :)

I was doing a pickup swap and full rewire on the LP Studio I got in january. 500K pots (that all measured between 410 and 420? a little low but OK whatever), k40y-9s (which barely fit), an A4 59n, and an UOa5 for the burst bucker 2.

When I looked in the neck pickup cavity, I saw something that made me smile. Gibson workers must be happier than we thought because they're drawing smiley faces in the pickup cavities!

If workers in the dreaded Gibson factories can be happy, maybe we all can be happy.

You should sue them for "devaluing your guitar" by making unwanted marks on the inside!

Haha! That's cool. Yeah I'm getting ready to do a full rewire and maybe some more mag swaps on my Studio Faded soon, too. I'm going to order the same harness that Jolly had put in his LP by Martin Six String Customs.

I feel like they should make an emoticon inside of every guitar that expresses their mood at the time of the guitar's creation.

with what I had been hearing about the number of Gibson factory worker complaints, you'd think most of them would have this drawn inside

from now on any time I demo an LP I plan to buy I'm going to insist that they let me take the neck pickup out and check the cavity.

If they have a then I'm buying it

No, the prewired harness is about $70 or $75. He uses matched CTS 550K pots, NOS Russian paper in oil caps, and his work is top notch.

Oh I saw the one that was on a template of nitro burst flame maple with the NOS bees. Ok yeah $70 isn't too bad.

Ohhh yeah lol, those are his vintage spec harnesses. I won't be putting one of those in my $700 LP, although it would be pretty sweet. Lol
