Even if someone gave it to you, you'd have immediate problems ... frightened to take it out of the house, frightened to go out and leave it in the house, paranoid about who you mention it to. Pretty soon the only safe feeling would be by having it stored in a secure vault somewhere.

Yeah, spending that much money on a guitar that made you terrified to be it's owner seems like a brilliant idea. I'll take two thanks, I might need a spare.

That's been for sale for quite awhile now. I'm not surprised that it hasn't sold.

I'd buy it if I had the cash.

I can't imagine anyone shipping that guitar. It should be in first class surrounded by an armed militia for that kind of coin.

Re: I wouldn't mind finding one of these in the attic....

Lets be realistic. It's not the first 59 to hold that price tag. It's most certainly not the most expensive 59 that's ever sold. If you have the disposable funds to spend $250k on a guitar, you're probably not real concerned about money in the first place. Not to mention that most of the people that are looking to buy it, it's more than likely not their first dive into the vintage market. Most prospective buyers probably already own several vintage guitars and have the facilities to accommodate said 59LP.

To us mere mortals, that price tag is unfathomable. To the guys that are into vintage instruments, they're licking their lips. It's the holy grail for guitar players and collectors. We can scoff all we want, but in the end, he'll get the price tag he's asking if not, very close to it. Bumps, scratches, bruises, mismatched parts, cracks, and all.

Like I said, if I had the money, I'd buy it. Of course I'm left handed and it would serve very little purpose to me. So I'd find someone that is a great player and would use it, and off it would go.
