I know it sounds weird, but Teles feel better to me than Strats and sound better, too. IMHO, a superior guitar to the Strat in just about every way. To me, it'd be making it worse.

I call my current guitar a StraTeleGib, because it's got a splittable nickel C5, strat middle, and hand wound tele neck. And a hard tail strat bridge that goes through to string ferrules. On mine, there's also new CTS pots and Fender Vintage dome knobs.

It's basically an upgraded Modern Player Tele Plus.

          Absolutely.

I've got to add one TINY thing...I could do with the Strat hs over the Tele's. Actually, I'd be more interested in a big-guard Custom with a P90 neck pup or a very underwound humbucker.

I really wish more companies made Strat style bodies with tele style bridges/pickups and no middle pickup with fatter telecaster necks. What made me sell my '56 Strat was that there's nothing quite like that Tele bridge pickup (especially with the telecaster bridges, whether they're a modern 6 saddle or a vintage 3 saddle). The bridge really makes that sound and hardtail, trem equipped strat bridges just don't sound the same.

                  StraTele-ish:

That's a Harmonic Design STP in the bridge - it's a Tele pup with the baseplate and everything wound on a Strat bobbin. Killer pickup. The mini switch activates the neck pup so I can do B+N or all 3 pups at once.

Eventually I'll slap a proper 3-saddle Tele bridge on there too, but the hardtail Strat bridge works well enough for now.

Hmm, I like Roman Rist's spruce bodied beast. Schaller Hannes and noiseless Fralins make it even cooler.
