  • Robert Fripp/King Crimson Tuning

I noticed Robert Fripp uses a weird altered tuning...

    Low to high - C G D G E G

Has anyone used this tuning (or anything similar)

I am a bit worried about tuning the B up to E & the E up to G.

    Any thoughts?

This is Guitar Craft tuning, which greatly extends the range of the guitar and is certain to break you out of old patterns. He uses this with an 11 on the high G...with an LP scale.
Check out http://www.frakctured.ukf.net/ for Crimson transcriptions in this tuning.

As a side note, Adrian Belew has a range of tunings he uses.

I got that from the Frakctured site!, hehe, I am gonna try it on my LP, like you said, due to the extended range it could break me out of old habits.

The thing that worries me is that on the site there is a note at the bottom warning about warped necks, is this something I should worry about?

i dont think you should worry. the california guitar trio (awesome stuff) uses this tuning on martin acoustics, so it should be fine.
