While I do think you got screwed, that's not a bad repair job (although maybe the picture quality smoothes it over?). If its any consolation, that neck is now much more stable than a non-broken one. There's an old joke running that Gibson should just crack their headstocks at the factory just to get it over with. I know they tried mediating that weak point witha volute sometime in the 70's/80's, no idea if it worked or not.
