              Totally depends...I like them on some Les Pauls where they match the binding and the pickup rings. Most guitars I would say no...just a personal thing.

                I would say in 80-90% of the Les Pauls that I see, I would prefer some sort of switch ring, there are rare exceptions but I think most look better with one, and just look incomplete without one. Pick Guards on the other hand I can live without. I have two Les Pauls, and one has one, and one doesn't, but I see many Les Pauls without one and I think they look great.

                        My '17 Traditional came without one so I bought one to put on. Didn't even think about doing a custom one.
