Re: NGD - Random project
My car seats are black with a candy blue racing stripe
That would look cool
One wide stripe with two matching pin stripes on either side

Re: NGD - Random project
Ok, So quick question. This is my first finish job and I wanna do it right.
Last night I took all of the original finish off with some 80 grit sanding pads and my orbital. Body looks like it is just plywood. Is there really anything else I need to do before I start painting? Do I need to use a grain filler? The body is just plywood and not porous at all.
And about paint:
What should I use?
I already have a can of Krylon white from the local lowes, and I plan to buy the same stuff, just in candy blue. Will those work?
I also have been researching how to lacquer the body. I also think I will pick up some min wax polyurethane finish at lowes.
Will those two work together? Can I get a professional finish with that lacquer and some high grit wet sand?
What has worked for you in the past?Last edited by PierceOkken; 10-28-2018, 09:16 AM."My biggest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my guitars for what I told her they cost" -Anonymous

Re: NGD - Random project
Project update:
First day of actual work on the guitar. Here's what I have done:
Sanded the disgusting laquer of the neck, refinished with tung oil (mmmm) The neck actually has some flame to it, kinda nice
Filled all of the old bridge screw holes
Did a really shady job of rerouting the trem cavity with a dremel.
Leveled, crowned, and polished the frets
Reinforced the wood in front of the bridge so the floyd rose won't crack the wood
And now I am just waiting for the OFR I ordered to show up so I can drill some holes
Then I'll paint
here are some pics:

Re: NGD - Random project
SO, here it is! The paint job. I have been very busy lately and have not been able to do updates. I installed the floyd pole pieces and the nut. Then I painted! It was super tedious, but it turned out super! It is camaro blue with a white stuttgart racing stripe. Re: NGD - Random project
I usually don't care for pickups that aren't in the standard colors, but a white pickguard and navy blue (or black) rail pickups would look cool in that thing.
What's going in it?You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

Re: NGD - Random project
And a chrome OFR, I plan to replace the bridge pup with a super 3 in the future. Rn I had a duncan designed humbucker just sitting around, so I threw that in for now."My biggest fear is that when I die my wife will sell my guitars for what I told her they cost" -Anonymous

Re: NGD - Random project
Nice work!! Glad it plays like a dream for you!!! You rattle can paint it? What you have on the headstock?Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.
