  • Passing GAS

So I just had to share a story.
I have a buddy in Phoenix.
He doesn't play much, kind of a campfire Strummer if you will.

He shoots me a text out of the blue the other day showing me a picture of a Jackson soloist pro that he just picked up. I tell him that's frickin awesome!

We start texting back and forth about him getting back into playing, and how he wants to learn old 80s metal stuff.... And how this guitar is one of his 2 dream axes.

I ask him what the other one is... A lime green San dimas he said, but he can't ever find one.

30 seconds later I text him the only one on reverb.com

He freaks out cuz he knows his wife is going to kill him.

I tell him have a beer and think about it, but it's rare and it won't last long.

35 minutes later he texts me.

I was going to accuse him of this as well

but after research technically speaking, he's not an "Enabler" (see below)

-He's more an accessory to a bulletpoint on the divorce papers I guess

If he has a couch to offer his newly divorced buddy, he is a really good friend!

        Awesome axes!! WOW
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

I have a buddy I grew up with that I've passed gas to as well. He recently went to a Fender Amp tech course and services tubes amps as a side business. When I see folks selling tube amps that have issues, and are cheap due to the issues I forward the ads to him. He can often pick these amps up, fix them, and flip them for a profit. But I also send guitar ads his way, and I know the stuff he likes. He's impulsed bought enough that his wife asked me to cut the crap.

FYI the Jackson Pro series is made in Indonesia. Still killer looking guitars, for the Soloist line at least.

There will come a time on this planet when there is no one old enough to get this joke.

That will be a very sad day.

I think you should enable him to buy his wife a very expensive gift.

I think I’m a couple of years older than you and I don’t get it....

I know what Hungry Man dinners are but what’s the joke?

well...this brings up one of the unspoken advantages of Fractal and or Kemper...wives have gained awareness of expensive guitars and don't get having a bunch...but a little box appears in the gear room...what's to question???works for me....
