Tele or Les Paul? (No Rob Option)

Re: Tele or Les Paul? (No Rob Option)
Apples and oranges. I’ve owned both. Les Pauls always sound like Les Pauls. Which is fine, but I think I like the longer scale length of Fenders since you get more harmonics and snap.
Currently all my guitars are 25.5” scales with humbuckers (full size or otherwise).
One thing I did to my ‘81 LP Standard at the time was rewire it for two volumes, master tone, and a 6-position Varitone. That allowed me to notch the mids and get more Strat like tones.

Re: Tele or Les Paul? (No Rob Option)
I don't think I could possibly choose. I do like Les Pauls more, and probably would gravitate toward them as they are a bit more forgiving to play. But a good tele with that early broadcaster style pickup in is hard to beat too.

I don't really Love LP's but I can't stand Teles.... So I vote LP.
They sound good and they look good.
I'd take an explorer or a V any day over an LP.Go buy my book. https://www.amazon.com/dp/198405564X

I’ve owned only one Tele, and I swapped it for my first LP. I prefer the feel of the Fender scale length. I think it plays more comfortably for me, but a good Lester covers a lot of ground. Both have their charms, but this choice is an easy one for me.

I'll go Les Paul on this one. I love Teles but much like Aldo Raines in Inglorious Basterds, you can't hide that Tele accent no matter how much you want it to.
I also really dislike the middle position in a Tele. On a Les Paul I rarely use it but it's alright.
I used to own a Fender Tele that was amazingly stable and solid but sounded like dog****. I now own a Squier that does all the tones I wanted out of that Fender for 1/4 of the price. It's pretty crazy.Last edited by Diego; 12-15-2019, 06:12 AM.Epiphone LP Standard PlusTop Pro

Re: Tele or Les Paul? (No Rob Option)
I have owned one tele, and although visually it was gorgeous I never bonded with it. I sold it last summer.
My LP Standard otoh, is an amazing guitar that God willing, I’ll never sell.

Re: Tele or Les Paul? (No Rob Option)
I ain't like the boxy neck, the short scale, the 3 and 3 tuners, the jazzy neck pup, nasal middle, mixed with a bright bridge, nothing goes well together for me on the LP. I'm like how is this supposed to be a rawk guitar? It feels horrible. Love Fender guitars. The Tele has such a great rawk sound. The things that you wanted
I bought them for you
