  • Tuning Machines for 75 Strat

    Hi all!

I've got a 75 and 76 strat...both need new tuners. I'm not sure what the deal with them is, but a couple of the tuners on both necks have become very tight and I'm tired of dealing with them.

I bought 'Fender 70's Tuning Machines' on the internet, brand new, complete with the stamped F on the back. Guess what? THEY DON'T FIT.

So I'm looking for some alternatives to those tuners, but hopefully without drilling and routing my headstock. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Man...with 30 yr old guitars I'm hesitant to make off the cuff suggestions. I'd probably actually ask over at the Fender Forum. There are a bunch of guys there who know strats inside and out. I'm sure there are several modern tuners that will fit with no mods, perhaps even locking tuners, but you're right...I wouldn't want any holes being drilled in that headstock. There is a 79' blond hardtail at my local GC right now in pristine looking condition...asking price is $2700.
