  • Home recording equipment help

    Hi all,

what's everyone else using for home recording, these days? I hook my POD up to the computer, with good results, except that I catch emf off the computer/monitor...

I was wondering if buying a dedicated mixer like those little TASCAM units would allow me and my buddy to do a better job and get less hassle?

Otherwise, I'm thinking about buying an LCD flatscreen and shielding my computer with shielding paint.

What do you guys use to mix? Software, hardware? What brands?

The nice thing about the PODXT I have is it's a USB connection straight to the comp so I don't need to worry about my crappy soundcard. On the other hand, I need to figure out a way to mix with my buddy's stuff...

forget the shielding paint, that's not even going to do anything. You're just catching the CRT's rays with your pickups. My easy recording rig is:

Pod XT -> behringer mixer -> Soundblaster Audigy 2 platinum -> Nuendo or Cool Edit Pro or Similar.

I have an LCD screen and I don't get any noise at all from my guitar because of it.

Hey that's cool man! So through the mixer you're not using the USB, then?
