  • Buzzing in a Greenback.

Yesterday I picked up a 16 ohm Celestion Greenback for my Classic 30. After installing it I had the amp at a low volume thru the clean channel. Played a chord and let it ring out. At first all's fine but as the volume decreases I heard this buzzing sound. The best way I can describe it would be if you were holding a piece of paper against the speaker cone-it's that kind of buzzing. Tried it at louder volume thru both channels with the same results. I took the speaker out and gave it a good looking over and could'nt visably see anything out of the ordinary. I even tried the speaker in a differant cabinet and got the same thing. I already called the store and they said they would take it back, no problem. I was just wondering in the meantime if anybody has any idea what may be wrong. Other than the buzzing it's a great sounding speaker. Really added a whole new life and dimension to the amp. Thanks guys.

I would guess the voice coil is rubbing a little.
