  • Harley Benton. Oops!

So... working on upgrades to my SG custom type Benton and I’ve run across an issue I’ve never seen before!!!!

The bushings for the bridge and tailpiece are GLUED IN from the factory. It’s the only explanation. I cannot get these out. So I was using the tried and true method of putting a small bolt in the bushing and then screwing in the post and the bushing start coming out as the bolt hits the wood. Lol. Wow.

Never had this happen!!! I tried to remove (prior to this) for like 40 minutes. Only explanation I can come up with is that the anchors are glued in. Crazy!

Always hit it with a hot soldering iron for a bit to soften the glue

I’m thinking the thin SG body probably played into this. Luckily the poly kept the piece together! Lol.
