  • NGD Fender MIM Road Worn 60s Strat

Hi everyone, been pretty quiet on the forum recently.
Picked this up from my work on Straturday the 5th of December which was my wife’s birthday conveniently.
This is a limited edition 2020 Fender Made in Mexico Road Worn Strat, I put in my request to get this for staff pricing but was told my guitar wouldn’t arrive until May which is just in time for my 20th birthday, it ended up arriving 5 months early and I couldn’t resist waiting.
This is my first strat and I’m not it won’t be my last.
    Specs:
    Alder Body
    Satin Maple Neck
Pau Ferro fretboard with 7.25 inch radius
    Nitro finish
    Mid 60s C neck.
Fender USA American Vintage 59 pickups.
    5 way switch

Beautiful guitar and yes Strats are very addictive guitars. Don't feed your Strat after midnight and don't let it get wet.

Never really used a Trem on a strat, it’s in Eb with 10-52 NYXLs, can dive the Trem all the way down and it holds tune pretty good but if I bend it up even slightly it’s not happy at all, also getting used to having the 60 cycle hum of a real single coil.

Nope, it sounds like a strat, does the Stevie and Jimi tones and that’s all I want from a strat, if I could get the exact same sound with no hum then maybe but pretty sure that doesn’t exist.

I actually put the extra 2 springs in hoping it would help tuning stability, again it can be dived all the way down with no problems but can’t pull up at all without it going all outta whack.
I think for less than 1000 USD it’s a great deal.

Maybe look into replacing the nut, or making sure it is cut properly. If the bar stays in tune when divebombing, it is worth getting to work when pulling up. To me, a functional trem is really the 'sound' of those 60s guitars. Then listen to the Shadows, dress in suit, and dance in time with the very catchy tunes.

                  Cool guitar!

I agree more than half of my guitars are Strats and Strat derivatives!
                  Oh no.....

                  Oh Yeah!

One of the Tusq XL nuts we were talking about in the other thread would be perfect here.
Easy to replace in a Strat too.

Nice Strat. A well cut nut is very important of you are going to use the trem. Any string binding anywhere is going to throw the tuning off. Then again, they weren't meant to go string slack like you can with a Floyd Rose.

Sweet. Love the natural striping on that fretboard.

Me too, surprisingly nice for Pau Ferro, I’ve named this guitar Milo after my cat who is equally striped.

Again that makes it even more surprising that you can dive it and it still hold tune, maybe a roller nut as well, I’ve used some lubricant and pencil lead as well as widening the slots and it’s helped slightly.
It came with 9-42 but now it has 10-52s.

10-52? Yeah, the nut slots would definitely need to be adjusted for that. When it comes with 9-42, it'll handle those well and usually 10-46. The heavier wound strings you got on there were probably binding in the nut.
