Anyone own a mikro guitar?

Been considering a mini mikro guitar lately just to have something different. Most companies have these available now in their lineup. Which ones are the best for the price? Not looking to upgrade them. Just something to play without fear of dinging and and scratching them up.

I have been VERY tempted, to buy either an Ibanez, or Vox "mikro" guitar.

I'd like to put 08, 09 strings on it, and tune it A-A...

But I haven't taken the step yet. It seems like a wonderful thing, to use for certain applications! :)

I have several Mikro guitars, and have a couple clients who've purchased Mikro basses. Good stuff, affordable. The electronics aren't world class, but you can play a club and not hang your head in shame.

My fave is Paul Gilbert's Mikro - it's terrific fun. I had the first one in town - and maybe still the only one.

I bought the mini-Stratocaster back when my boy was a teenager. But he didn't stay with it and left it here when he moved out. Now he's in his 30's and has two kids. I upgraded all the electronics, and I think I did Duncan Designed's in it. It's fun to mess to with.

My local shop has the Paul Gilbert Ibanez in stock. I didn't plug it in, but it did look pretty nice.

I had an Ibanez micro bass It wouldn't intonate properly
and I lost interest
The full size SR series are awesome

My son had a 3/4 size acoustic when he was little
He liked it

I bought an Ibanez GRG Mikro way back for my son. It's a well built little guitar for the price. He didn't end up going through with playing, and now I'm finally selling it on. I can't justify keeping it when I have so many other guitars.

Where is it for sale?

Yep, bought 2 of these for my boys back in the day. Just needed a setup and some Loctite for the nut on the jack. The boys stuck with it and moved on to full size, but I still have these in storage. I figure the Grandkids will want to play also. Mine came with some practical gig bags. Not much padding, but plenty of zippered pouches, a handle and shoulder straps.

If you pick one of these short scale guitars - Ibanez Mikro, Fender Mini, Lyon (in the Disney line - think Hannah Montana), on the used market you have the foundation for a great modding platform that will yield a really fun axe for not much money.

A couple years ago, I practically had a cottage industry going buying loads of those Disney TV guitars for $25 a pop at garage sales, pulling the electronics (the Tele pickups were actually pretty good) and installing modern tuners and pickups (usually Bill Lawrence or some used Seymour Duncans). Finally, I would do a fret level and yank the plastic nut to fab up a new bone nut. Out the door for $250 - probably sold a dozen to local clients. Rockers, jazz guys, country pickers - made no difference.

I've posted this video once or twice here. It's the first one I did - a Hannah Montana loaded with Bill Lawrence units. I did it for a jazz guy, who loaned it to this rocker to make a video. It's horrible quality from a smart phone, loud band in a small space. The guitar was tuned down so the 10's on a short scale sound a little warbly, but you get the idea.... Said rocker later bought a Camp Rock Lyon from me loaded with Duncan Designed Invaders. He loves it.

That's cool that your boys stayed with it. None of my 10 grandkids seem interested either.

I'd love one of those little Ibby miKro's, but I can't justify another guitar right now.

I think the Peavey Rockmaster line is sorta in that category. They have, (or had), a whole line of DC Comics versions, plus a few others. I've got one in plain black. I think it's 3/4 size. It's one of my most fun guitars. I've got a Perpetual Burn in it right now.

I just picked up a Ibanez Mikro RG local! The guy I bought it from got it for his son around 6 months ago and he never played it he said. It looks unplayed, too. Only flaw I see is a small crack at headstock. I have been playing it this morning and its really cool. The crack isn't very deep either and it doesn't affect tuning. No dings anywhere, or scratches. The intonation is set and the action is low with no fret buzz. Feels like 10s on it. Nice grain patterns on the maple fingerboard. I also got the Ibanez mikro gig bag for it. All for $75!
