Guitar stuff I learned today

So there's this company called MIRC that takes in a lot of the warranty returns for all the Fender family of brands and others. If they are broken, they fix them up and resell them instead of sending them to the dump. I love that. Sometimes they'll even do fun new paint schemes and get creative with it. But by and large, it looks like a lot of them are relatively minor things and then they just make sure it's all ok and resell it. MIRC sells to dealers who then sell them as B-stock or seconds. All in all, pretty cool. I'm thinking about signing up to be a dealer just to have access to some of this stuff.

Just an interesting little niche of the guitar world where they are trying to make the most of stuff that would have been trashed otherwise. I dig it!

I love that these instruments get another chance. Isn't it Gibson that sends returns to the wood chipper?

Gosh. Is that right? I guess after seeing how proud they were to run over all the Firebird X's with a bulldozer that might be true.

Did anyone ever get a real explanation on that whole thing? They could have at least parted those out. Seems so dumb.

A good portion of the bodies and necks I've bought over the past couple years as well as my Gretsch G5220 came from Franklin Guitar Works. Good stuff!

My only complaint is that early on nobody knew about them so I got some stuff pretty cheap, but now they're a known quantity and stuff gets bid up.

Do NOT go to Franklin Guitar Work's Ebay page. I just put a bid in on two Fender Malibu parlor guitars that end in less than an hour, and by the grace of God I got a hold of myself about the time both my bids were beat
