I've had this Big John headless body for a couple years, and discussed it more than once in different threads. I've tried several necks on it with unsatisfying results, until now. Found a XOLO headless neck online. It's a boutique brand from Mexico City. This neck is a nice piece of mahogany with a top shelf slice of ebony. Good fretwork, zero fret with a bone nut to separate the strings. Chunky neck profile and wide at the nut - reminds me of my old '59 Junior. Body mounting uses inserts with 1/4-20 threads. No markings at all on the neck. Someone had drilled 16 holes in the peghead stub for thread locking hardware, I filled them and stained them. Used a Guyker string lock out of the parts box. This thing now plays slick, and sounds good. Pickups are stock 2 wire Artec units with ceramic magnets. Hot output, wired out of phase in the middle position will get that "cluck" we love from Strats. This one is now a KEEPER. Less than $150 in the whole unit.
