If you're mindful, you can use heat.
You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

It works. It breaks down the sticky stuff making it easy to wipe off. When it's all gone, polish with good guitar polish. That's how we cleaned up trade-ins with stickers and tape on them.

3M Adhesive Remover would work too.

Wire brush works when nothing else does.
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Naphta and a microfiber cloth. Use your regular polish after.

                Lighter fluid worked awesome. Thanks!

Just didn't even think of that...

I usually use nail polish remover or alcohol, but this stuff just was a lot and seemed extra gunky. Stay tuned for new improved Dean Metal Man pics one of these days.

                  Yes, the tougher the better.

Did it leave the finish alone?

A little late now, but this stuff worked for me when lemon oil didn't.

Used it on a black finish and had no issues.

Naptha (lighter fluid) is gentle enough for antique furniture that has a shellac or nitro finish. Most guitars will not be affected.

poly finish is safe with white spirit so that's what I use. or gasoline. super effective.

Yes it did. Polished it nicely in fact.

LOL - I ALWAYS use a Zippo lighter in the woods! As a prepare I stock the Napthla!!!! Didn't even think of it.

Well, you got it. I was going to recommend: naphtha (lighter fluid, white gas), paint thinner (mineral spirits), gasoline, lemon oil, WD40.

Definitely NOT nail polish remover (it has acetone in it which will quickly dissolve lacquer based finishes, will probably be ok for poly. But naphtha or mineral spirits is best and safe for all finishes.
