I need to check Ebay (blocked at work)
Wow. That's how I got started buying and selling on eBay back in the mid-90's. I worked 2nd shift as a tool & die maker at a large aircraft maker here in town and they encouraged us to read on the internet (porn would get you fired, pronto) because it kept us at the machines. No magazines or newspapers, but you could hop on the Compac - there was one at every CNC so you could write and download CATIA programs.

I was cruising Fleabay recently when I came across a seller (I don't know if we name them here) that apparently parts out guitars and basses. Most of their stuff is made by Fender, so it' snot surprising to see that they sell necks and bodies along with pickups, tuners, and pickguards.

What surprised me was that they have a couple of Les Pauls for sale. They appear to be stripped Gibsons going for between 1100USD and 1400USD depending on the model.

Would you guys buy one of those, or would you stay away? I ask because they have a LP with a lightly flamed top in an ice tea burst that may or may not be calling my name.
If you're ok with the price, go for it. As far as I've heard, the stuff is all decent and they don't have a history of selling unusable stuff.

Pretty sure I know the seller and have bought from them.

I bought an SG husk from them, it ended up being a great deal because I had all the parts on hand and it turned out great.

Their service and communication, however, is absolute crap. So if you have any kind of problem with your order, resolution is a total PIA. Ask me how I know.

Around $1400 for the body/neck. $100 for tuners, $50 for tom/tailpiece; $80 wiring harness, $250 pickups, $30 knobs/rings… add another $200 if you’re going to have the local luthier set it up…
of course all these can be had for more or less, but a ballpark. Or you might set it up yourself.

doesn’t seem to be the best or worst deal. Just depends on the used stuff you see or have access to. I’ll see a Les Paul classic on marketplace for $1700 then later on on eBay some dude is selling a ‘70’s deluxe that he believes is worth $7000.

It is kinda like buying a guitar on a payment plan. But as a seller, it seems like a lot of work to strip and sell a guitar piece by piece.
