  • Incoming…PRS one off Artist build

The one thing I love about these forums is meeting random people from all over the country and the world and sometimes making longtime friends!!

And also finding some EXTREMELY COOL GEAR!!!

So I was engaged in a text conversation with a fella I met on TGP. We were talking about our jobs, gear, life, etc. We were sharing guitar pics and he said he would love to have my CS LP Axcess. And offered this guitar for trade…

A 2007 PRS SINGLECUT with p90s and piezo bridge. This guitar was a custom one off build for Buckcherry guitarist, Kieth Nelson. This guitar also features…3 ply binding on the body, bound ebony headstock overlay, bound ebony fretboard with a skull n crossbones inlay, wide fat neck, only 8.7 lbs, Grover tuners and gold hardware.

I love the PRS Singlecut design, and to pair that with p90s and a piezo, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to give it a try!!!

We didn’t end up trading. I bought it though. I’m hoping to have it Wednesday!!!

Lucky you! I can't imagine why Keith didn't keep this axe.

There's a special place in my heart for black guitars with gold hardware. And what's not to like about that one! It's got all the good things: P-90s (with gold poles), piezo, near straight pull strings at the headstock, adjustable wraparound bridge, fairly light weight, even cool skull and crossbones inlay with "X marks the spot" at the 12 fret and 11 teeth at the 11th fret. And it looks like PRS placed both of the pups so the poles would be as close as possible to the natural string vibrational nodes too.

I look forward to your review once you get it and have a chance to play with it. I'll bet it sounds killer.

                  Looks amazing!

I thought Paul didn't like Grovers?

                    Well, it arrived yesterday!!!

First off, this has the chunkiest neck i have ever felt on a PRS....I love it!!!

This definitely wasn't a guitar that Keith had built and it just sat in a corner...it has plenty of play wear, most notable, wear marks on the top from his heavy bracelets.

The weight is great...under 9 lbs.

The ebony board and ebony headstock overlay are beautiful! The inlays are awesome! The 3 ply binding on the body really sets this guitar off!!!

The pickup mystery is solved!!! FRALIN!!! 15% overwind in the bridge and a standard wind in the neck.

The neck is true...frets are great! It sets up with a low action. Plays like a dream!!!

The tone is absolutely amazing!!!! The piezo is awesome too!!! The electronics are similar to a les paul. The mini toggle is a 3 way for the piezo....off/mix/on

Overall...just an awesome one off PRS Single cut!!!!
