  • Large or Ex-large Fretboard Side Dots

My eye are not what they once were. Seeing my side dots is getting harder on dark stages on a couple of guitars. Does anyone know where I can get larger markers to install?

How large diameter do you need them? Do you want white, black, pearl, abalone, wood...?

White would be best for contrast. The markers on my 80s era Ibanezs are a dark tan on a rosewood board. I am thinking even if I can't get something bigger, replacing them with something brighter like white will be a step forward. I guess the average size is 3/32, so 4/32 or 5/32 might be better.

I have to say that the Luminlay material is absolutely transformative on dark stages.

I've always kinda wanted LED side dots for this reason. :P

Thanks, I appreciate it. I am going to dig a bit deeper into Luminlay a bit it seems they also have various sizes.

Dave thanks these seem absolutely perfect. I am thinking the green on my black Iceman and blue on the silver Iceman. If not anything it should look cool.

I have luminlay in 2 guitars and although I haven’t played them on stage, they do glow nicely and are very visible.

You have to keep a small laser pointer on you, and you use this to 'charge' the dots. A charge lasts about 3 hours, and they are really bright.

                      Correct.
They sell them right in the luminlay website. Iirc, it’s pretty cheap.

Large dot inlay stickers are available too. No drilling required, just stick 'em on.
Might not last forever if you do a lot of thumb-over playing.
But it's a simple - and easily reversible - option.

I considered stickers but with my luck, one would fall off right at the wrong moment.
