If I ever get a Chibson, it's gonna be a Blue Sparkle Frehley model. I'd just like to know.

But technology improves, everything gets better/easier. Keep up or die. I play Authentic, but I sure as hell don't PAY authentic.

How does this compare to say an Epiphone LP from maybe the 90/00's?

Fit and finish overall better on the Epiphone. Sound and play is about the same. My 2 cents worth.

I would play my new Epiphones over this Chibson any day.... But man even those are getting too expensive these days.

But something to keep in mind guys, there are a lot of different manufacturers making these copies, some are better than others.
I have no idea who made this particular item.

$1200 for a great LP, 2 ok ones, and a turd is NOT a bad deal. On par with any single LP from Gibson and cheaper.

Today I switched to black knobs, and ordered a set of gold "keystone" (because that's what I like best on Paul's) Grovers off reverb. They'll be in next week I'm hoping.

These stock tuners don't hold tune very well.

We could say that about a lot of different import brands I imagine.
That's kind of how I look at them anyway. I put an SD in every guitar I buy, USA made or not.

Well the Military taught me attention to detail, huge thing with them. If i was in charge of Asian manufacturing id be the "Tom Murphy" of knockoff guitars.
China always goes for quantity over quality trying to totally flood the market with substandard guitars.
Japan prides itself on quality over quantity handmade one at a time.
Some of the china stuff is okay but they never really seem to get it right and theyve been tring a long time.
I know an authentic Gibson / Fender / or Martin guitar may not seem like a big deal but it is to me.
Big problem with "fake" guitars bearing a false name is someone trying to rippoff someone else as with some people this seems inevitable.

Good points...I agree with the people trying to rip others off. People are terrible.

I also want my real Gibson logos to mean something.
I generally downplay anything that comes from China...And avoid buying anything I can from there. Always have.

I am also not trying to make these issues any worse. I got one to just ease my own curiosity. And I also share whatever I learn so anyone else can make a better informed decision for themselves.

Today I pulled the poker chip, toggle, pickup rings, and swapped in black stuff. To match the knobs.

Still left are the tuners and the correct truss cover...which I have ordered,
