want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

Re: want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

That maple DK looks pretty darned sweet. Still, I'd trade an armful of 'em for a KVSMG production model (KV body, fixed bridge, 24 fret SLSMG neck). Ahhh....:fingersx:

Check out the price difference between the DK2 w/o Duncans and the DK2 w/ Duncans. It's pretty significant.

Also, as far as "What competition"... quality hardware on a low-priced guitar is something ESP has been doing for several years, and Schecter has been doing for at least twice as long.

If you like JB's. I've often wondered about this subject of matter. Why is it that any guitar that comes with real Duncans from the factory is either a JB, or in some rare instances a '59? Does SD cut some kind of deal for JB's in bulk? Hahahaha. Or is it that guitar companys are just afraid to actually do something different? Or that they're too lazy or cheap (seems rather inexpensive as far as R&D stuff goes but who knows?) to actually try different Pup's from SD's line and figure out what sounds best in the guitar? And I know there are those of you who say that the JB is the best all around pickup, however, most guitars that come with the JB in it aren't all arounders. They're for harder music... and there are much better Pup's in my opinion to do just that. And a lot of those guitars seem to be naturally a little more focused towards highs and mids with out the help of the JB.... which by the way was still a little thin for my tastes in my old McCarty standard (all mohagany). Just my opinion. Sorry to jack the thread but feel free to let me know what you think on this situation.

it probably has to do with the fact that it's the most bought pickup in the SD line.. besides, you can sell them and get the pup of your choice without shelling even 50$ from your pocket, instead of 150 for new pups

can you point me to the new price list please? or are you just speculating based on the price of a DK2 + new pups

Re: want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

The manufacturer's advised prices are on the PDF dude.

Also, I doubt anyone is saying 'WOW it's so new!', it's more of a 'AT LAST' cry ;) I personally would have thought twice about buying a Japanese Jackson BECAUSE of this lack of hardware compared to the competition. But now I know that even though I may pay a bit more, I'll have a guitar that feels like I want, AND with the hardware to follow.

oh.. overlooked it =P

well.. that would mean the shelf price is around 700 .. which aint that bad at all. but if you ask me, it's gonna be a bit lower than that. could be wrong though

That was a joke. I've never had the opportunity to play an ESP, but I know Schecter and others have some sweet choices at all price levels.

Re: want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

well.. as for the competition.. (speaking of LTD and Schechter) .. yea, they had better hardware for a long time, so it's like FINALY jackson is releasing guitars with better hardware..

as for the pricing. there is a reason LTD's and schechters are so cheap. they are made in korea. the people doing the assembly get 1$ a week, so yea, they can afford shelling out top of the line USA made hardware for realy cheap.

i do not doubt the quality of the schechters and ltd's, but i'm never going to own a korean guitar again

if you need an example ..
take the ESP Axxion .. the japan custom shop made one has a MSRP price of 4k, the LTD has a MSRP of 1150, yet on paper they are completely identical guitars. only diference is the logo and fingerboard

guess why.

this is not a stab at ESP, this is a stab at korean guitars in general

Re: want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

So what would be the difference between the SL3 and the SL1 now that the SL3 has an Original Floyd Rose tremolo?

Is it wood quality? Neck?

Re: want a maple fretboard shred guitar? J/C content

Roswood vs Ebony
Rails vs Vintage
No binding vs no binding
Japan vs USA
More finish options for the SL1.
