  • Truss rod nut (Epiphone Les Paul)

Does anybody know the size the truss rod nut of an Epiphone Les Paul? Is there a standard size? Because I tried to use the socket driver provided with my Gibson Lp and it is wee bit too big. So I will need to a smaller one but what will it be?

The USA Gibson hex nut is 5/16.

If the Epi is different it is probably metric so my best guess is 8mm, possibly 7mm.

Epi uses an Allen head adjustment, not a nut. It's a 4mm allen wrench that you need. I just got done doing up my G-400 Vintage, same system.

Not on mine. It is basically the same systemas my Gibson, but smaller. My Epi is from 1994, maybe they changed their truss rods since... ?!

I made a quick conversion and 5/16 seems to be slightly smaller than 8mm so it ought to be a 7mm nut. Does it sounds about right?

As a rule of thumb, imports use metric system. My model 4 for instance needs a 7mm socket.
                  USA use imperial.
Try 7mm, I think it's pretty much the standard size.

If you don't have one, I do. I don't know if you do your own setups or not but I can always do yours for free if you wish, I love messing with guitars.

Probably did, all my Epis are fairly current, from 2002 and up. They all use a 4mm allen wrench.

Actually, I'd rather you show me because I'd really love to do it myself properly. I tryed to change a few thing on my two Pauls and the result isn't as good as it should be .
