Just finished adding the Ultimate Drive
in a minute with my review of the Ultimate Drive
all my trials were the Guitar/the Pedal/the HI input on the Laney GC80A
the Joyo Ultimate Drive for me is a nice pedal
it is like a compressor/distortion in one pedal
it doesnt like my RG2 with the JB/Jazz
ok thats not fair
with the humbuckers the Joyo doesnt respond to the volume control
as you would expect
with effect engaged the volume control of the guitar had almost no effect
on the volume or tone or the effect in general
to be fair the volume control on this Ibby has a Treble Bleed circuit
but still
with the amps Drive channel engaged, the effect disappeared
it didn't matter if was on or off (the effect isn't True Bypass, BTW)
the effect was good tho, with the knobs at noon
the effect was smooth creamy and nice
the level control seems to be the compression
adding drive increases the "buzziness"
tone works as expected and the HI/LO switch seems to control the seep of the tone
If I only had one guitar, I would probably get another pedal
but I don't
with the MIM
and the single coils
this is where it came to life
on the neck it was righteous
on the bridge it responded to the volume control nicely
it smoothed out gain when the volume went to half way
(the Level all the way up the actual volume stayed pretty much the same)
it still was kinda overshadowed by the Drive channel of the Laney
but it didn't disappear
with the guitar's tone knob backed off the effect took on a shimmery feel
really cool
with the single coils it did want to howl when you weren't playing
