  • Delay

I'm looking for a delay that can do the following:

    1 - Dynamic/Ducking delay

    2 - Tape Echo

3 - The ability to easily switch between the two... either through saved presets or through a simple interface (no menus, minimal knobs)

    Re: Delay

Tc electronic Flashback delay (one of the non-mini versions) could do the job
Unbelief is safe, because it takes no risk and almost always gets what it expects.

      Re: Delay

The tc nova delay or flashbackx4 have presets & ducking delay, not sure if they have tape mode. Apart from that boss dd20 has presets, as does vox delaylab. Not sure if these two have ducking delay though.

Strymon timeline & eventide timefactor probably have both covered.

The flashback does, the nova does not. With the regular flashback you have to turn a knob to switch and it is a lot smaller than the x4.

            Re: Delay

The Joyo D-SEED has four styles of delay
            A tap tempo
And the ability to store one setting as a preset
Allows you to.switch between your current and.stored setting with a single footswitch

It.is not as durable as you would like
It has no.battery compartment at all

            It is inexpensive

I have looked at the Boss DD-7
            and Digitech DL-8
I'm not sure if they are what you want
But they are on my wishlist

Line6 DL-4 or M-series has all of that, and a lot more.

Strymon El Capistan is what I am going after, I absolutely love the tones it gets. I freely admit to totally clinching my butt cheeks when I saw the price

Pretty awesome pedal, but no ducking delay on the El Capistan.

Another plus 1 here. The DL-4 is a great pedal.

                          Re: Delay

I picked up the El Capistan. I wanted to try a Timeline and Flashback but they didn't have any in stock. Took the Capistan for a test drive and that was all that was needed.

FWIW... I have a TTE and I find the El Capistan really impressive. It's not a perfect emulation but sonically it hits all the important points and adds a bunch of utilitarian features real tape doesn't have.

My favorite feature is the sound on sound looping, lots of fun and much more dynamic than a standard digital looper, a la Ditto. Did you get a Favorite Switch too for 2 presets?

                            Enjoy!

                              Re: Delay

I forgot the favorite switch was an option and didn't ask for one. I will get one down the road.

On the plus side, I might not need a dynamic delay anymore as the El Cap does a good job of laying back in the mix and popping out at just the right times. It's the feature I liked the most about real tape, and now I have it in a pedal.
