Sam Ash Fuzz Boxx (originals and clones): Are they all very noisey?

Hi all,

I love fuzzes. And this pedal, Sam Ash Fuzz Boxx / Astro Tone Fuzz are cool units. Love Tommy Bolin.

So over the last few months I've got to try some of their clones (though I do not know Sam Ash's recent reissue) and have been paying attention to the white noise from these unity to YouTube vids. Zephry from Mojo for example...

Are they all sorta significantly noisey pedals? I tend to use them with an amp on the verge of breakup (so loud) and this noise thing has been bugging me. Inside the mix, it is ok. But still that noise thing is quite audible with only the guitar around.

I have the Hartman Tommy Bolin fuzz, which is a clone of the Sam Ash fuzz. I do not find it to be particularily noisy ...
