  • New Tubescreamer not working. Ideas?

My new Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer does not seem to be working. I checked the input and output and they are going the right way. But when I turn on the amp there is a terrible feedback, grinding type sound. I am using a 1 spot 9 volt power supply.

What am I missing? I am assuming this is user error and not a bad pedal since I am a new pedal user.

By the way, the amp sounds just fine when going straight from guitar to amp using the same cable.

Try with the pedal using a battery for power. If the same behavior shows itself, its the pedal. If not, it's the 1-Spot. You can get contact PureTone about the 1-Spot if that is the case. I have a 1-Spot and haven't had a problem with it in the 10 years I've had it. Doesn't mean they don't go bad. Could be the pedal. Set everything half way on the knobs to start, go from there.

That was it. Works fine with just a battery. Thanks!

No problem. And I meant TrueTone, not PureTone. The latter makes hearing aids...lol. TrueTone used to be Visual Sound.

Does it make the noise with the battery in AND you plug it into your 1 Spot?

Well I guess it's not the amp then haha. I'm sorry I can't help.

I THINK they changed this on the new TS9's but my 808 has a different polarity for the power, check that.
