  • Chorus pedal advice?

There are so many pedals out there now that I hope I can get some info or advice. There are a couple of chorus pedals I have a chance to buy and I can't decide.
Analogman Chorus (2 knob version) and Way Huge Blue Hippo (newer small size version). Any thoughts? Thanks!

While I'm not a huge chorus user, several years back I demoed a few dozen choruses to find one that sounded the best. You don't have to spend a ton of money. The EHX small clone does everything you need in a chorus pedal.

Chorus is one of those effects that lots of companies do really well. I used a Digitech Chorus for years, and it was really great. I think it cost like $30.

I'm not a big chorus pedal user either so I don't need a "boutique" pedal but I hear people saying that some are better. Thanks for the advice.

I like the tri-chorus setting on my Keeley "Dyno-My-Roto", but I like the TC Electronic chorus as well....

Not tried one but I've noticed the TC electronic john petrucci dreamscape, seems to be simple, affordable & versatile (chorus, flange & vibe fx)

That sounds great. Their pedals sound great and the dude who wants to sell his Analogman chorus wants $200.

                      Re: Chorus pedal advice?

There are a few styles of chorus. You need to decide which style is what YOU like:

                      1. Thick syrupy chorus (depending on level)
                      2. Cold icy chorus
                      3. Really more of a doubled effect chorus
                      4. Chorus on the verge of Flange/Phaser

They all have their place, and their fans-haters.

Really like my MXR analog chorus.
                        Warm, lush and versatile.
                        Just under a $100 new.
                        Check out the reviews.

Lately, more chorus effects you find in the Helix and the Fractals are the icy cold 'barely on' variety. I grew up with the thick stuff. If I am going to use a chorus, its gonna be the thick 80s stuff.

I like a few types - just depends on what I'm doing.

Twisted Sister - the thicker the better!
Acoustic, I like some frost/not too much
                            Leads - Dimension C style....

Really just depends. Thus I LOVE my Digitech Chorus Factory!!!

But I hear you Dave - I nice basic Analog chip style....hard to dislike.

The Digitech Chorus Factory is great. I also dig the Digitech Stereo Turbo Chorus. Found super cheap these days.
