Hot Stack Bridge - How to wire and install?

I have a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack (Bridge) from the 1980's that I want to install into my Strat.

What I would like to know is whether to use it in single coil mode or in dual coil mode. Apparrently I hear that if only one coil is used it makes for a really good powerful single coil sound.

How does the wiring on a hot stack pickup work?

I have become kinda handy with a soldering iron and guitar tools but if this sounds funny please be kind as I am a woman.

Anita.

Hey Anita; Its been a long time since I used a Hot Stack, but if I recall, it wires up just like a humbucker. Green to ground, red and white together and taped off, and black to the switch.

If you want to split it, you'ld connect the red/white to ground, but thats going to make the output softer.

Hopefully, someone else will chime in. Its been awhile. :)

I would always play it in dual coil mode, either in series (regular use) or in parallel mode. Parallel will have less output, but at least you stay away from the noise!
