  • anyone tried this tweak?

there's a tip from the torres engineering catalog(www.torresengineering.com) on brightening or increasing the output of a pickup(paf style) slightly by cutting the excess screws at the bottom of the pickup.it says it reduces stray magnetic fields thus increasing the efficiency of the pickup.

I read about that on the Les Paul forum and they made a big claim about the subtle difference in sound. I have used different pole piece lengths and I prefer the shorter ones. 1/2" to 5/8". 3/4" is too much and I believe that is stock on Seymour Duncan screw poles.
