  • I need (complicated) wiring help.

    Hey.

I've got a tele and im installing a Hot rails in the bridge and neck. I built this guitar so the wiring i'm strating fresh, i mean no factory wiring to worry about or anything.
    I 2 500k pots- 1 volume and 1 tone. + a 5 way pickup selector.

Ok what i'm looking to do is have Position
1- be the bridge pickup (by it self)
    2- brige pup split
3- bridge and neck pup combo
    4- neck split
    5- neck (by it self)

I cant find a schematic for this type of set up.
    and no this one http://www.seymourduncan.com/website...y-w-split.html
    will not work for me.

If anybody has done this type of set up brfore or knows where i can find a schmatic for this please help!

    thanks

You need a superswitch. They sell them at stewmac.

There's a megaswitch form the german manufatcor "Eyb", which are especially build for this setup!

        Look under "Megaswitch"

It doesn't have 4 "boards" like other superswitches, it only has one with 7 or 8 terminals.
You can use it for 2 Humbuckers, or for 3 Single's (In the middle Position you have neck & bidge PU, not the middle PU)

You know, this wiring would be real simple with a 3-way lever switch and one push/pull pot. You may want to consider going that route.

The eyb megaswitch is not much more expensive than a push-pull-pot.
Once, i replaced the push-pull-pot with this switch.

It's not that i dont wanna spend a few bucks and buy the mega switch its just that I will have to order the mega switch off the internet, which isnt that big of a deal either its just that i'll be ready to set this guitar up in a few days and i can wait around for a mega switch to arrive later.

I got one option that you can use now if you don't mind both pups being split in the middle (#3 position); other wise you'll have to order a switch from Fender, it's a 2 pole 5 throw lever switch ... But the throws are independent like the super switches, and is probably cheaper than the mega switches(in their case,* if *you get the right type ... they are made by Schaller, and I don't think the E-type switch would do what you need. I have seen referrence to a E+-type switch .... but I believe that to be a misprint/typo.) Hold tight, I'll doodle.
