  • Help identifying a "Rails" pup?

    Hi all,

I've got some kind of "Rails" pup I'm trying to ID. It's either a Hot Rails or a Cool Rails, that much I know. There's a label on it that says "1NC".

But "1NC" doesn't seem to match up with anything having to do with Rails.

It's almost as if it's got the wrong label on it.

    Thanks for any help!

Does it say Seymour Duncan? It could be a duncan designed rail pickup.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it says "Seymour Duncan".

I could post a pic I suppose, but really, it looks just like an SHR-1:

The puzzling thing is the "1NC" label stuck to the back. Maybe it's some production or QC info?

        Thanks...

Do you have a multimeter? That would help.

If it was pre 2002, then the code for a neck cool rails should be 1N. Perhaps the C was an alternate indication it was for Cool Rails?

It's a Cool Rails. I've got one like that, too. The label is the same and mine read ~9.5 on the multimeter. I can't recall the exact number, but that put it squarely in Cool Rails output range.
Duncan Pickups in currently in use: '59 (rewound to PATB-3)/'59, Custom/AP2H, Tapped QP set for Tele, Crazy 8/Cool Rails, Screamin' Demon/Stra-Bro 90, Custom 5/Phat Cat, SP90-1/SP90-2, SMB-5D

                  Thanks, six years later!

These days I hardly play that guit and have purchased 4 or 5 new ones since then. Funny how time marches on.

Pretty cool you came back to visit your own thread so many years later.
