Good idea ya think, or YAWWWWNN? For standard Blues/Rock/Pop stuff.

Seymour Duncan Silver Special Hot Rodded Humbucker Set Limited Edition (Nickel)

"Made exclusively to celebrate our 25th anniversary!

Includes an SH-2 Jazz (neck) and SH-4 (bridge), both hand engraved with Seymour Duncan's signature on the back. Sleek nickel covers and gold pole pieces. Strong definition with bold, dense tone make them great for everything from blues-rock to metal."

if i wanted a Jazz and a JB i'd get used ones for cheaper but that's cool if you're into the uh look or whatever.

Nice combo: I love that set. Beautiful and versatile. On top of that, the covers definitely look beautiful.

        Meh.

There's better sets to throw into a SG, IMHO. I'm sure you could get any standard 'bucker from Duncan with those same cosmetics just by asking for 'em as a shop floor custom.
        Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

It's a good set, but you'd be better off with a Custom 5 in the bridge.

+1. The JB is fickel & doesn't work well in some guitars. Many of us SG owners really like the C5, with a '59N or JazzN in the neck, which has a much higher success rate than JB's. For those that like a warmer bridge, using 250K pots with a C5 is very nice.

"And Blueman, I am pretty sure you've pissed off a lot of people."
"Wait, I know! Blueman and Lew can arm wrestle, and the winner gets to decide if 250K pots sound good or not."

I see. Is this what youre talking about? http://www.seymourduncan.com/product...sh14_custom_5/

I wanted to keep the stock look on the SG so I guess I could get these with nickel covers.

Update: On the strength of everyone's input, I decided to go with the '59 and C5 combo.

There seem to be a lot of opinions both ways between the JB and the C5. It's like they're equally loved or not loved.

The pups are bought and on the way. I'll post the results later.

I think you'll be happy with the results. I've got a '59 (neck) and JB (bridge) in my LP, and I'm pleased with that combination. I am tempted to see what the C5 would be like in the bridge.

In my SG, I've got P-90s. Always pushing those with other people. If you had a second SG, I'd say drop in a pair of P-90s and let that beast bite the audience's collective ass.

Thanks, Keith. Yeah, it would be great to have another SG to drop some P-90s in!

As it is though, I'm going to JP wire the SG (assuming I can hog-out enough wood to get the push/pulls to fit), so I'll have access to SOME kind of single coil sounds.

Getting very anxious to put this thing together!

Funny you should say that. My LP has the JP wiring in it. All four knobs are push-pull: series/parallel, phase in/out, coil splits.

Let us know how it is!

                              DAMMIT!

Got the '59 in the mail today.

I DIDN'T KNOW IT NORMALLY COMES WITH SINGLE-CONDUCTOR! I can't JP wire this thing.

Keith do you have a custom ordered '59??

Bad on me for not doing my research.

Back to the Jazz SH-2 I guess.

                              Anyone want a '59 cheap?
