  • squealing dimarzios...

Hi I am new here, long time duncan user. I just bought a les paul custom on evilbay, it is loaded with dimarzios, a paf pro and a super distortion. It sounded great, and looked stock because they were covered. When played at stage volumes it feedback like crazy. I filled the cavitys with foam, but they still feedback. I checked the pickups and the covers are just held on with electrical tape! I know the pickups are already potted, so I am curious if I solder the covers on like a factory made pickup, if that is the solution. I know I can take them off, but I like the look of the covered pickups and I am not liking the double cream bobbins. Does anyone have any tips or experience with these kinds of issues? Thanks! Chris

Does the squealing stop with the covers off? Then you know you need to fasten them on better. Soldering should do it.
