  • Do magnet swaps really work?

Does anyone know if swapping out the magnets really works? And if so, is there any kind of a tone chart or guide to determine which magnets sound like what? Im trying to figure out if a certain type of magnet swap will help the sound i get from a bolt-on as opposed to my neck thru's
    Thanks.

magnet swapping can be a cool thing, is general

an alnico 2 is going to be the warmest with the most mids and least top end, bottom end isnt as tight as the others

alnico 5 has a glassier tone with a bigger bottom and clearer top end, a little more output than alnico 2

ceramic has the most aggressive tone, strong top end, chunky mids, tight bottom and the most output

A4 and A3, as the numbers indicate, are in between. A3 is similar to an A2, but with a bit more A5 properties. A4 is similar to A5, but with a bit more A3 properties.

Then again there are those a6 Benedetto pickups that Duncan produces for Benedetto Guitars.
