  • Humbucker screw Screw help!!!!!

I have 2 7 string guitar Humbuckers Duncan Designed. They told me on another site that i need metric screws. i bought them and they don't fit. This is where i got really mad.... I already have 2 screws in the guitar for 1 humbucker that already mounted....its wired that NO hardware store ANYWHERE has the same size screw. i don't know the size becuase they were just handed to me. so im looking for humbucker mounting screws. This is getting very aggravating.

are they a standard size screw? any screw that i've dealt with whilst mounted HB's have been fairly standard... seems odd that there would be a specific screw needed for mounting...

also, seems odd that they would give you pick ups with out the mounting screws...

thanks for the link....its just weird. i know there machine screws. Actually i got the guitar in a trade. everything was wired but the humbuckers weren't secure. the holes on the pickup are small so i gotta be sure that these will even go in....most of them just stop at the top.

Shouldn't that be 3-48? Don't mean to nitpik, but just in case someone asks for them by that number, they might never find 3-42

                Re: Humbucker screw Screw help!!!!!

im going to loose my mind if the 3 different types of screws i ordered don't fit. For some reason its a machine screw that just very small...im not good with screw sizes so just based on my description its a regular length for a humbucker screw. but its just thinner around so it can screw in. when i used metric it didn't fit. and now im waiting to test the ones i just ordered out.

Is it possible that someone drilled there own screw holes in the humbuckers in my guitar? sorry if im ranting im just very concerned becuase ive been guitarless for about 2 weeks. its like taking crack from an addict for me. just incase, in the order i placed i bought Mini humbucker screws, short humbucker screws, and regular humbucker screws from mojo.

                      ya know
I have seen folks do some of the oddest stuff to pickups
once saw a drywall screw used a pickup screw
have seen folks tap em out bigger to the next size up
but have yet to see one make the hole smaller

this leads me to believe that the hole is original
and you just need the right size screw

                      have patience
                      relief is on the way

                      *note
this may be a good reason to own a cheap backup guitar

                        Re: Humbucker screw Screw help!!!!!

my Mean 90 took a smaller mounting screw too.

my local store had a few loose behind the counter.

they let me pick em. like 30cents each.
