correct way to use ohmeter on an SH4 pickup

Hello, I have a Sey Dunc SH4 pickup. Trying to get a meter reading. I connected one probe to green lead, the other probe to red lead. I get 8.2. Shouldn't I get 16.4? Greatly appreciate any help in the correct way to use this ohmeter and what this SH4 should put out.

attach the black wire to one probe, the green and bare wire to the other, and make sure the white and red wires are connected. The reason you got 8.2 was because you were only measuring one of the coils.
