  • Is there an alternate wiring for series/split/parallel?

    Hi.

I would like to wire up my JB pup, following the series/split/parallel diagram and using a mini-toggle switch.

My problem is that the prescribed DPDT On-On-On switch is not locally available.

Would it be somehow possible to use a SPDT (for the split) AND a DPDT on-on (for the series/parallel) wired up in series to achieve the same effect? I seem to recall a related schematic of this sort for DiMarzio pups, included in the orig. pup plastic boxes... but I don't have one anymore.

Or is there some other way?

I could live with having two switches to do what I want. I plan to hide them behind the pickguard on a 335 copy.

I ask about this because other options like mega-switches and push-pull pots are not locally available either.

Thanks in advance for any info.

    Jaime G.

Easy solution, that piece of paper that you talk about (DiMarzio installation instructions) is downloadable from their site ... Go there and download it, it's under pup installation questions or something titled in the like.

You are right. I found it inside the DiMarzio site. Thank you, sir!

Ok. just FYI, after reading the DiMarzio documentation...

        - there is no mention made of possibility of combining a series/parallel switch + single-coil switch (in place of a DPDT on-on-on switch)

        what there is is:

. series/parallel or "Dual Sound" switch + Phase switch
        . Phase switch + single-coil switch

oh well ... it was worth a try.

Are you familiar with the phrase *read between the lines*?
Look again, they showed you how to do it ... look at the single coil switch ... now look at the series/parallel switch ... put the two together. Split is available in series mode.

Hmmm. Ok, I will look at the diagrams once more. I speak and read in English excellently, sir, including reading between the lines, whether in English or in my native tongue. But my facility with language just doesn't apply to diagrams and electrical connections...
Thank you once again for your time.
