Question about Invader

Just installed an Invader in my Epiphone korina Explorer and something doesn't sound right. I'm using a POD 2.0 and when I plug in direct it sounds muddy and there's no sustain. I mostly use the Brit Hi Gain and Rectified settings and I was getting a classic Gibson sound before I installed this pup. My Epiphone JR. which has a Screamin' Demon and my Iceman which has Ibanez Super 80's sound WAY different from the Invader. However, when I hook up the MXR Wylde Overdrive the Invader really shines. Is the Invader designed only for super hi gain amps and not so much for the POD? Did I make a mistake?

Re: Question about Invader

I would lower the pickup and see if that helps.

Re: Question about Invader

Invader favours bass frequencies where the Screamin' Demon favoures the higher frequencies. Try playing around with the equalizer.

(Mind you, equalizing should just be for fine-tuning. You'd never equalize to completely change the pickups sound, but if the sound is completely wrong - I guess you should try)

Re: Question about Invader

You're right! My ear is used to treble sounding pickups where you really notice the hi's. The Invader is a very "thumpy" sounding pup. Like I said, it sounds great w/the MXR overdrive. I was thinking that I might have installed it incorrectly or it was defective.

Re: Question about Invader

The Invader is pretty far out in left field, as far as Duncans go. Definitely a far cry from the Demon :)
Definitely give it a chance, and keep an open mind with it. I think you'll end up really liking it.
