SSL1/5, RWRP and Color Codes

OK, I know this is pretty basic stuff but I want to make sure I have this right. What we have here is:

SSL5 bridge (top)
SSL1 RWRP mid (mid)
SSL1 neck (bottom)

Do I have these oriented correctly? The neck is at the bottom of the picture.

If so, should I consider the white wire in the middle hot or is the reverse true?

A couple things throwing me off from the wiring diagram: RWRP coloring is reversed. SSL5 shape is symmetrical. The fact that the SSL5 label which is upside down compared to the others doesn't help.

Assuming I'm right about all of the above I would think the SD S/S/S Strat diagrams would reflect the way a RWRP pickup looks. Obviously this config is very common. :scratchch

Re: SSL1/5, RWRP and Color Codes

On the single-coil pups, black is always ground and white is hot regardless of whether or not its RWRP. Just wire it like that and all will be good. :)

Edit: It just occured to me that you were probably refering to the physical orientation. I believe those pups have a raised "G" pole piece, so orient it so that the tallest pole is under the G-string.

Hopefully, someone else will cover me on that part.

Yes - thanks - I was concerned with the electrical, magnetic and physical aspects. I'll check the G pole thing.

On the two SSL-1's, the wires definitely point towards the rear. But its been awhile since I had an SSL-5. You'll need to go by the pole pieces. (They should just match up with the SSL-1's.)

It was hard to tell by the G pole as it is about the same height as the D. But the B is definitely lowest so I went that route.
