  • Flippin coil towards the neck?

    Flipping bridge screw coil!
Is this something that can be done with any pickup where the bridge is too bright, or are certain select pickups better candidates for this operation?

It makes a bigger difference in pups with mismatched coils, like the c/59 hybrid. and it is most noticeable when splitting coils.

But with most pups, just flipping it won't make much of a difference in the tone...some, yes, but not much.

The screw coil is predominantly the sensing coil because its poles are closer to the strings, so rotating the pickup changes where the pickup senses the string. If the pickup senses the string at a point where the vibrational arc is wider the more bass response you get. With double screw coil humbuckers the difference isn't as big since you can adjust each row of poles to tweak the frequency response.

          Not much adjustment there.

How about you actually play one of the damn guitars for once instead of constantly tinkering.

but Dimebag did and claimed it made a difference
both the BL and the Dimebucker suffered from his tinkering hands
